Deputy Minister of Justice Karen Karapetyan welcomed representatives from the EU Delegation to discuss key issues regarding personal data protection in Armenia. The meeting included Grigor Nersisyan, the head of the Personal Data Protection Agency; Frank Hess, Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation; Irina Movsesyan, responsible for international assistance and cooperation; and EU expert Philippos Mitletton, who is currently in Yerevan to conduct an analysis of personal data protection in the country.
As part of this EU-supported program, the expert has been sent to Armenia to study the current state of personal data protection, as well as the national legal and institutional framework. Following his analysis, he will prepare a report containing relevant recommendations and observations to support the development of the sector.
Karen Karapetyan emphasized the EU's efforts to advance personal data protection rights in Armenia and expressed hope that the implementation of this program will enhance the legal framework and contribute to the development of the Personal Data Protection Agency.
In the coming days, the EU expert will work with the Agency's specialists and meet with representatives from various state institutions.
