On July 21, 2025, an online meeting took place, during which the current state and future steps of cooperation among the Personal Data Protection Authorities of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries were discussed. The meeting was organized with the support of GIZ.

The Personal Data Protection Agency of Armenia presented ongoing developments and reforms in the field of data protection in Armenia. Special attention was paid to the role of observers in the European Data Protection Board (EDPB) and the procedures for obtaining observer status.

The Agency expressed its gratitude to the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) for sharing their expertise and providing valuable guidance. As a member of the EDPB, the EDPS plays a significant role in the European data protection framework.

GIZ reaffirmed its commitment to further support cooperation both among the Eastern Partnership countries and between them and the European Union and international organizations within the broader context of public administration reforms and data protection.

Since 2023, a cooperation network among the data protection authorities of the EaP countries has been developing under the coordination of GIZ. This cooperation includes bilateral, trilateral, and multilateral formats involving EU Member States, EU institutions, and partners such as OECD SIGMA, EDPB, EDPS, the European Commission, ReSPA, and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) of the Western Balkans.

This partnership is evolving within the framework of the regional project “Public Administration Reform in the Eastern Partnership Countries III”, implemented by GIZ and commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany.
